Premium Shutters for a Boutique Hotel
A Phillip Island boutique hotel needed window treatments that would handle guest use, coastal conditions and high aesthetic standards simultaneously. PVC plantation shutters were the clear solution.
Managing a boutique hotel means every furnishing decision is a long-term one. The owners of this Cowes property needed something that would look great on day one and still look great three years later — regardless of what guests did to them.
We specified commercial-grade PVC shutters with stainless steel hardware throughout. The coastal environment demands materials that don't react to salt air, and PVC was the only sensible choice. We used a custom off-white tone to complement the property's interior design.
The project spanned 38 guest rooms plus common areas, and was completed over a single week during a low season period. The hotel has since featured the shutters prominently in its marketing photography.

How Each Space Was Treated
Guest Rooms
All 38 guest rooms received commercial-grade PVC shutters in a custom off-white finish. Guests need privacy on demand, natural light during the day and a reliable mechanism that holds up to daily use year after year. The 89mm louvres give each room a generous, open feel when adjusted — and the PVC construction means no warping, no fading and no maintenance headaches for the property manager.
Common Areas & Lobby
The lobby and shared spaces set the tone for a guest's entire stay. We carried the same custom off-white shutters throughout — consistent, calm and immediately communicating quality. The shutters tie the interior together from arrival to departure, giving the property a polished coherence that guests notice and remember.
Salt Air Durability
Coastal properties demand more from every material used. Standard hardware corrodes within a season near the ocean. We specified stainless steel hardware throughout — hinges, locks and tilt rods — specifically rated for coastal environments. Combined with the PVC shutter body, the entire installation is impervious to salt air, humidity and the harsh conditions that come with a Phillip Island location.
